About EcoValley Animal Sanctuary

EcoValley Animal Sanctuary is a farm animal rescue near Austin, Texas. We are working toward nonprofit status; 100% of donations go to the care of our rescued animals. We provide lifelong sanctuary care for rescued horses, goats, sheep, chickens, and other farm animals in the Texas Hill Country.

Questions about nonprofit status, visiting, and volunteering are answered in our FAQ.

Nature-first animal care

We care for rescued animals and the Hill Country land together, healthy pastures, shade, clean water, and a slower rhythm that lets wildlife and sanctuary residents coexist.

Lifelong farm animal rescue

Many farm animals get passed around when they're inconvenient. Our Austin-area sanctuary is here for the long haul: feed, veterinary care, shelter, companionship, and dignity.

Community-supported rescue

You can help, donating, volunteering at the sanctuary, sponsoring an animal, or simply learning how to advocate for non-traditional companion animals in Austin and beyond.

Who we are

EcoValley Animal Sanctuary was founded by people who said yes to one horse and never looked back.

From one horse to a full sanctuary

What started as a single rescue, a horse named Hot Dog who needed stability (our neighbors the Leonis were critical in finding and saving him), grew into a commitment to every animal that came after. Hot Dog has since passed but remains the spiritual leader of this rescue. The founders of EcoValley live on-site in the Texas Hill Country, doing the daily work of feeding, cleaning, vet coordination, fencing, and land management.

There's no large staff. There's no marketing department. There's a group of people who care about animals more than they care about being comfortable, and a growing community of supporters who make the work possible.

Life at the sanctuary

Our story: how this Austin animal rescue started with a horse named Hot Dog

One rescue horse became a direction. Then a mission. Then… the inevitable goat situation.

Step 1: Say "yes" to a rescue horse

Hot Dog arrived needing stability, space, and consistent care. He has since passed but remains our spiritual leader. That first commitment reshaped everything.

Step 2: Build a safe sanctuary

Good fences, good shelter, good hay, and a calm routine. The basics of farm animal rescue aren't glamorous, they're everything.

Step 3: Grow into Austin's farm animal sanctuary

Now the family includes rescued horses, goats, sheep, and even chickens. The goal stays the same: a life worth living, for every resident.
